Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQ's

UV printing is a form of digital printing that uses ultra-violet lights to dry or cure ink as it is printed. As the printer distributes ink on the surface of a material (called a "substrate"), specially designed UV lights follow close behind, curing - or drying - the ink instantly. Basically we bake the ink onto the surface.

Originally developed for quickly drying gel nail polishes during manicures, ultraviolet light applications quickly expanded into industrial and commercial markets. Because the UV lights cure any printed ink immediately, the dots of wet ink do not get a chance to spread out once printed, resulting in much finer detail. In addition, UV cured inks are weather-resistant and offer increased resistance to fading. This curing process is more environmentally friendly as it produces few VOC’s, odor, and heat. UV curing also allows the flatbed printer to be used with nontraditional materials like acrylic or aluminum. In fact, this UV flatbed printer is compatible with most substrates up to 2” thick!

Dashboard FAQ's

The status of your orders can be found by selecting the  "Hello, Name" button in the top right portion of your screen. Select the drop-down option "Order Status". Here is where you will see your order history as well as the status of all of your orders. If your order has been canceled you will not see a status bar.

There are 5 progressive steps on your order status:

Step 1: Order Submitted

What this means: The order you created has been sent to us. One of our team members reviewing your order, making sure the payment succeded and overviewing the order details to make sure there are no major issues.

Step 2: Prepress

What this means: The artwork on your order is currently waiting to be uploaded, approved, or reviewed. In this step when your order is not quite ready to be moved into production.

  1. If you submitted print-ready artwork (?),  then our team is reviewing your file(s) to double-check that it has been formatted properly for production. This is mainly to make sure it can be printed and cut properly if selected. We are not responsible for checking artwork for grammar, spelling, missing links, or other graphic features. Orders are printed in their "as submitted" form and the customer is fully responsible for final proof and layout verification and approval prior to submission to the print process.
  2. If you requested artwork setup or need your project designed,  then in this step you would need to review the proof. To review the proof,  you receive an email from our design who has either attached the graphics to the email or provided a link to view your proof. From there you will find instructions on how to review your proof. If you not officially "APPROVE" your proof then it will not be moved into production.

When your artwork has been approved by either our design team or by yourself,  it can then be moved into production.

Step 3: In Production

What this means: Your order has now been moved into the production queue and will remain in this step until production and finishing have been completed. We may contact you during this time with any questions regarding the finishing of your products.

Step 4: Ready for Pickup or Shipment

What this means: Your order is now ready to be picked up at our facility or if you have requested it to be shipped then it has been packaged and dropped off at the shipment facility.

Pick Up Option - Our office hours are from 10 AM- 5 PM. Your order may be marked ready for production right before 5 PM or shortly after. If this is the case please contact us before heading to pick up your order. If you can not making during our normal office hours you can contact us to schedule for after-hours pickup.

Shipping - Most of our orders are processed and out of production within 1-2 business days after the order is placed. Orders are not shipped/delivered on weekends/holidays. FedEx, UPS, and USPS do have cut off time for dropping off packages ranging between 3-5 PM. If the package cannot be dropped off before the cut-off times then the packaged will be shipped the next business day. Questions regarding shipping?

Step 5: Completed

What this means: Once your order has been picked up or delivery of the shipment has been confirmed from the courier, your project will be marked as completed.

What is Bleed?

What is Bleed for Print

Ink that prints beyond the trim edge of the page to ensure it extends to the edge of the page after trimming. As there is a degree of movement when printing on any press, you should always create 3mm bleed on all edges where bleed is needed. Supplying your job without bleed may result in white lines when we trim it.

Your potential customers will judge the authenticity & credibility of your company based off the first impression that they get from your logo.  You don't want them to assume that you offer low quality products/services because your logo is low quality.

Raster:

A raster image is made of up pixels, each pixel is a different color, arranged to display an image.

Depending on the resolution the image becomes blurry as enlarged.

Examples of Raster files

  • PSD
  • JPG
  • TIFF
  • PNG

If submitting these files, please follow the guidelines below:

  • 100% scale (full size output) at 100 dpi
  • 50% scale at 200 dpi or higher
  • 25% scale at 300 dpi or higher
  • 10% scale at 600-1200 dpi recommended

Thumbnail sized jpg and gif. files are not at a high enough resolution to be used on large prints like banners.

Vector:

What is neat about vector graphics is unlike JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles. Vector based graphics can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. They can also be scaled small enough to appear on a business card.  Typically, if you were to blow up a graphic it will look blocky, or "pixelated." When you blow up a vector graphic, the edges of each object within the graphic stay smooth and clean.

Examples of vector files:

  • EPS
  • AI
  • PDF
  • SVG

Resolution should be set to 300 dpi.  Pictures and graphics pulled from the internet are often low resolution, typically 72 dpi or 96 dpi. Avoid these graphics, as they will appear pixilated and blocky when printed.

Also note that you should save all photos in CMYK mode, not RGB mode when possible. Images saved in RGB mode may not print properly. If you are unable to save your image in CYMK mode, please let us know.

A cut contour line is a digital line added to a vector image prepared in a vector graphics program like Adobe Illustrator that tells the cutting machine where to cut. The line is not printed it is only used to cut.

Also may be referred to as "digital die-cut"

Typically the cut contour line is automatically set as the artboard perimeter. For square-cut projects we use the artboard size as the cut line. For projects the have a cloud cut or die-cut: create an outline representing how you would like it cut. Add a 0.25pt stroke with the color at 100% magenta. Be sure to make the color a spot color. Place this on a new layer titled "Cut Contour" and place it on the top layer of your artboard.

Yes we print borders, but they are not recommended on double-sided prints. Because our substrates sizes vary from batch to batch it makes exact cuts difficult. We will NOT reprint or credit any order that has irregular borders on double sided prints.

Print FAQ's

Example of our cut contour types.

Die Cut: The final product will be cut down to the exact shape of the graphic or text. There is no background around the image on the inside or out. This can easily be done with minimal detail and larger sizes.

Cloud Cut: This is in between die-cut and the square cut. Cloud cuts are done when the images or text have very small/thin fonts or details. The image will be printed and cut with a border around the text or image to give a small cushion.

Square Cut: The final product will be printed exactly as it shows, but finished into a square, circle or other solid shapes so it's one piece.

In short, printers and monitors produce colors in different ways. Monitors use the RGB (red, green, blue) color model, which usually supports a wider spectrum of colors. Printers use the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color model, which can reproduce most - but not all - of the colors in the RGB color model. Depending on the equipment used, CMYK generally matches 85–90% of the colors in the RGB model. When a color is selected from the RGB model that is out of the range of the CMYK model, the application chooses what it thinks is the closest color that will match.

Simple jobs are often completed the same day if the artwork was approved before 12pm, and next day if it was approved after 12pm. Some jobs, however, may take up to seven to ten days to complete depending on their complexity and size. We always strive to provide an accurate estimate of the turnaround time for each job we do. And we’ll always work with you to find ways to complete your project when you need it.
